Public Arts Supplement Sample Notes

Back to the Samples Page

The Public Arts Supplement of the Current Population Survey asks about participation in the arts. In 2002, 2008 and 2012 this was the Public Participation in the Arts supplement. Starting in 2013, the survey was restructured and shortened in length; it is now called the Annual Arts Benchmarking Survey.

Select variables from this supplement are available for August 2002, May 2008, July 2012, February 2013, and February 2015. Supplement questions ask about the respondent's attendance at artistic events and frequency; artistic activities and participation other than through attendance; and socialization (training and exposure to the arts).

The universe of supplement respondents has changed over time.

Public Arts Supplement weights provided in PASUPPWT are identical to the basic survey sample weights.
