Description
PBOOKN is a four digit variable that reports the number of books (exclude work and school reading) that the respondent read during the last 12 months. This variable is only available for respondents who responded "yes" to PBOOK, which reports whether a respondent read any books not required for work or school.
This variable is part of the Public Arts Supplement.

Comparability
Supplement universes vary across years. The May 2008, July 2012, July 2017, and July 2022 Public Arts Supplement has substantial differences in structure compared to other months. - May 2008: Selected civilians age 18+ in rotation groups 4 and 8, who read a book in last 12 months.
- Jul 2012, Jul 2017, and Jul 2022: Selected civilians age 18+ in rotation groups 3, 4, 7, and 8, who read a book in last 12 months.
