INCRET1 is a 7-digit numeric variable
9999999 = NIU
The Census Bureau applies different disclosure avoidance measures across time for individuals with high income in this variable. Detailed explanations of these methods, topcodes, and replacement value and swap value thresholds are available here.
Description
INCRET1 reports the amount of retirement income received by respondents during the previous calendar year, from the source identified in SRCRET1. For example, if the source of payments identified in SRCRET1 were "401k account" (code 1), then INCRET1 would report the amount of income received from that 401k account during the previous calendar year. For those persons who reported receiving retirement income from a second source in SRCRET2, INCRET2 similarly reports the amount of retirement income received from that second source during the previous calendar year.
Comparability

For pension income sources from 2019 on are reported in SRCPEN1 and SRCPEN2 and the income received from these sources is reported in INCPEN1 and INCPEN2, respectively.
