YEAR reports the year in which the survey was conducted. YEARP is repeated on person records.
Comparability
This variable is fully comparable for all years.
Comparability with IPUMS-USA
IPUMS-CPS uses all four digits of the survey year in the YEAR variable. By contrast, the IPUMS census samples use the middle two digits of the year in the YEAR variable, while the IPUMS ACS samples use the last two digits of the year. Conceptually, the YEAR variables in these datasets are identical.
