Description

SRCRET1 reports the first source of retirement income identified by respondents who reported having any retirement accounts during the previous year. The second source of retirement income is reported in SRCRET2.

Comparability

This variable is comparable across time.

In the 2019, retirement income and pension income are split into two different sets of questions. Prior to that year, retirement and pension income sources are combined and reported in SRCRETI1 and SRCRETI2. For pension income sources from 2019 on are reported in SRCPEN1 and SRCPEN2.
