Description
IND90LY recodes information contained in the variable INDLY into the 1990 Census Bureau industrial classification system. IND90LY provides consistent occupational codes for the jobs respondents reported working during the previous calendar year, for 1968 on. Information on industry during the previous year is given as it appeared in the original survey data in INDLY. For both INDLY and IND90LY, respondents were to report the jobs they held for the longest time during the previous year.
The industry of persons employed at the time of the survey is reported in IND, and this information is recoded into the consistent 1990 industrial classification system in IND1990. IND and IND1990 also provide information about the most recent jobs of persons not employed at the time of the survey.
