Codes and Frequencies
VNOEMJOB indicates whether respondents did not contact state employment service specialists for help finding a job because they already had a job lined up.
VNOEMJOB is part of a series of variables identifying reasons why veterans did not contact state employment services. These variables were asked as one "mark all that apply" question.
This variable is part of the Veterans Supplement
In 2003 and earlier samples, Veterans Supplement respondents were 18 and older; in 2005 and later, respondents to the supplement were 17 and older.
In 2001 and 2003, there are a small number of responses that are NIU for every variable in the series, despite meeting universe requirements. There are 55 of these unknown NIUs in 2001, and 18 in 2003. There were also no "Don't know," "No response," or "Refused" responses to any variable in this series in those years, despite these responses being options in the codebooks, so it is possible that those responses were coded as NIU.
Apart from universe changes, this variable is comparable across available years.
