Description

For all respondents who were interviewed for the Tobacco Use supplement (TBRESP), TSMKLS reports the frequency of a respondent's smokeless tobacco use, and whether they have ever used smokeless tobacco regularly.

Smokeless tobacco includes moist snuff, dip, spit, chew tobacco, or snus. Some popular brand names include Grizzly, Skoal, Copenhagen, and Camel Snus, among others. Products such as nicotine pouches such as Zyn, Rogue, On!, and Velo are NOT included in this variable.

Prior to 2010, the Tobacco Use Supplement differentiated between snuff and other smokeless tobacco products. These variables are available in TCHEW and TSNUFF.

This variable is part of the Tobacco Use Supplement.
