Description
TSINCEQUIT reports the amount of time in days since a former smoker quit smoking completely. This variable is created from two components: the first is a number variable and the second is a unit variable. Respondents reported how long, in days, weeks, months, or years, since they quit smoking.
This variable is a part of the Tobacco Use Supplement.
Universe
- 1992-1993: Smokers age 15 or older who have not smoked (or didn't know) daily for more than 6 months at a time or have quit smoking.
- 1995-2007: Self-respondent former smokers age 15 or older.
- 2010-2011, 2014-2023: Persons interviewed for the Tobacco Use Supplement (TBRESP) who are former smokers.
- May 2011: Persons interviewed for the Tobacco Use Supplement (TBRESP) who are former smokers; MIS 5-8 only.
