Description

For respondents who are current someday smokers or are former smokers (TFREQ), TSMKDAYS1 reports how many days per month the respondent smoked cigarettes one year ago.
This variable is part of the Tobacco Use Supplement. This IPUMS variable was constructed using multiple original survey variables and as a result, combinations of response options that only included "refused", "don't know" or "no response" were coded as 95 (Non response).

This variable is comparable for all available years.

  • May 2010, Aug 2010, Jan 2011, Jul 2014, Jan 2015, May 2015, Jul 2018, Jan 2019, May 2019, Sep 2022, Jan 2023, and May 2023: Respondents who are current some day smokers and former smokers (TFREQ).
  • May 2011: Respondents who are current some day smokers and former smokers (TFREQ); MISH 5-8 only.
