Description
TWKPUBLIC reports the smoking policy in public areas, such as lobbies, rest rooms, and lunch rooms, for the employer of the survey respondent. This variable provides information about whether the employer has a policy and how strong the policy is.
In 1992 and 1993, some unidentified respondents also answered this question. These individuals were expected to not be in the universe; however, they were included in the original data.
This variable is part of the Tobacco Use Supplement.
Universe
- 1992-1993 (selected months): Self respondents age 15+ who are not retired or self employed, and worked indoors, though not in someone's home, or did not specify their work area.
- 1995-2007 (selected months): Self respondents age 15+ who worked last week, are not retired or self employed, and worked indoors, though not in someone's home.
- 2003 (selected months): Self respondents age 15+ who worked last week, are not retired or self employed, and worked indoors, though not in their own home or someone's home.
- 2010+ (selected months): Persons interviewed for the Tobacco Use Supplement (TBRESP) who worked last week, are not retired or self employed, and worked indoors, though not in their own home or someone's home.
- May 2011: Persons interviewed for the Tobacco Use Supplement (TBRESP) who worked last week, are not retired or self employed, and worked indoors, though not in their own home or someone's home; MIS 5-8 only.
