Description

For smokers who reported trying to stop smoking but did not give a response for the duration of time they stopped, TSTOPWK reports whether the smoker was able to stop smoking for less or more than a week.

This variable is a part of the Tobacco Use Supplement.

Comparability

This variable is comparable across all available years.

Universe

  • 2003: Self-respondent smokers age 15 and older who did not answer question about the longest length of time stopped smoking in the past 12 months.
  • 2006-2007: Self-respondent smokers who did not answer question about the longest length of time stopped smoking in the past 12 months.
  • 2010+: Persons interviewed for the Tobacco Use Supplement (TBRESP) who are current smokers who did not answer question about the longest length of time stopped smoking in the past 12 months.
  • May 2011: Persons interviewed for the Tobacco Use Supplement (TBRESP) who are current smokers who did not answer question about the longest length of time stopped smoking in the past 12 months; MIS 5-8 only.
