Description
TRYQUIT reports whether a smoker has ever tried to quit smoking completely. TRYQUIT combines the responses of two separate questions from the survey. One asks if the smoker tried to quit smoking completely in the last 12 months, and the second is whether or not the smoker had ever tried to quit smoking completely.
This variable is part of the Tobacco Use Supplement.
Universe
- 2003 (selected months): Everyday or someday smokers.
- 2006-2007 (selected months): Non-daily smokers who smoked fewer than 12 of the last 30 days.
- 2010+: Persons interviewed for the Tobacco Use Supplement (TBRESP) who are non-daily smokers who smoked fewer than 12 of the last 30 days.
- May 2011: Persons interviewed for the Tobacco Use Supplement (TBRESP) who are non-daily smokers who smoked fewer than 12 of the last 30 days; MIS 5-8 only.
