This variable is a part of the Tobacco Use Supplement.

This variable is comparable across all available years.

1992-2002 (non-ASEC): Smokers age 15 or older who plan to quit smoking or don't know if they plan to quit smoking in the next six months.
November 2003, January 2007: Self-respondent smokers age 15 or older who plan to quit smoking in the next six months.
May 2010, January 2015+: Self-respondents who are daily or someday smokers and are seriously considering quitting smoking in the next six months.
May 2011: Self-respondents who are daily or someday smokers and are seriously considering quitting smoking in the next six months; MIS 5-8 only.
