TOPNBAR reports an individual's personal opinion about the appropriate smoking policy for bars.

This variable is part of the Tobacco Use Supplement.

Comparability

This variable is completely comparable across all available years.

Universe

  • 1992-1993 (selected months): People without a job, or who are not working in the private or government sector, or who work in someone's home, or who responded to the question about employer offered smoking cessation programs.
  • 1995-2007 (selected months): Self respondents age 15+.
  • 2010+: Persons interviewed for the Tobacco Use Supplement (TBRESP).
