Description
TMEDADV indicates whether a smoker who tried to quit at least once in the past twelve used advice from a medical professional in the attempt to quit.
This variable is a part of the Tobacco Use Supplement.
Universe
- 2003: Self-respondent smokers age 15 or older who had stopped smoking 1 or more days in the past 12 months in an attempt to quit.
- 2010+: Smokers interviewed for the Tobacco Use Supplement (TBRESP) who had stopped smoking 1 or more days in the past 12 months in an attempt to quit.
- May 2011: Smokers interviewed for the Tobacco Use Supplement (TBRESP) who had stopped smoking 1 or more days in the past 12 months in an attempt to quit; MIS 5-8 only.
