Description
TCIGMONTH reports the number of days in the past 30 days the respondent smoked cigarettes. Users should note that values exceeding 30, which is illogical, exist in the original data and are not removed in IPUMS-CPS.
This variable is a part of the Tobacco Use Supplement.
Universe
- 1992-1993 (non-ASEC): Self-respondent smokers age 15 or older.
- 1995-2002 (non-ASEC): Smokers age 15 or older who do not smoke daily.
- 2003-2019(non-ASEC): Self-respondent smokers who do not smoke daily.
- May 2011: Self-respondent smokers who do not smoke daily; MIS 5-8 only.
