Description

STAMPVAL gives the total value of Food Stamps received by the household during the previous calendar year. For discussion of the Food Stamp program and related variables, see (FOODSTMP).

Inflation-adjusted versions of this variable created with the Adjust Monetary Values tool will use the default reference year for the sample (i.e., survey year [YEAR] for basic monthly and previous year [YEAR-1] for ASEC).

Comparability

In 2009, this variable was expanded from four digits to five. Otherwise, this variable is comparable across years apart from the effects of inflation.
