Description
For households with at least one child under the age of 14 (HHUNDER14), KIDCADAPT2 reports whether any adult in the household used vacation, sick days or other paid leave because their child's care was closed, unavailable, unaffordable or if there was concern for the child's safety in care.
This variable was introduced in 2025 and is part of a group of variables that report different actions taken by any household member in response to child care closure, unavailability, unaffordability or safety concerns. These variables include:
- KIDCADAPT2: Action taken to adapt to childcare problems: Used vacation, sick days, or other paid leave
- KIDCADAPT3: Action taken to adapt to childcare problems: Cut work hours
- KIDCADAPT4: Action taken to adapt to childcare problems: Quit a job
- KIDCADAPT5: Action taken to adapt to childcare problems: Were fired from a job
- KIDCADAPT6: Action taken to adapt to childcare problems: Did not look for a job
- KIDCADAPT7: Action taken to adapt to childcare problems: Supervised one or more children while working
- KIDCADAPT8: Action taken to adapt to childcare problems: Other
- KIDCADAPT9: Action taken to adapt to childcare problems: None
