Description

FSSTMPDEC indicates whether anyone in the household received SNAP or food stamp benefits during the month of December of the year in which the household was interviewed.

Prior to 2002, respondents were asked to report the last month in which members of the household received SNAP benefits (FSSTMPMO).

The day on which respondents receive benefits in available in FSSTMPDAY.

This variable is part of the Food Security Supplement.

Comparability

This variable is consistent over across years. The universe is households that reported receiving SNAP or food stamp benefits in the past year and provided a valid response to the question on benefit receipt in January.
