Description
FSSTMPMO records the month that members of a household last received SNAP or Food Stamp benefits. Respondents are allowed to report the current month and up to 1-2 preceding months depending on the year of interview.
This variable is discontinued after 2001 and replaced with a question for benefit receipt in each month of the year.
This variable is part of the Food Security Supplement.
Comparability
In 1995 and 1996, this question is only asked of those who received benefits in the past 30 days. In subsequent years, this question is asked of households that received benefits in the past year (see FSFDSTMP).
Universe
- Apr 1995 and Sep 1996: Households receiving benefits in past month.
- Apr 1997, Aug 1998, Apr 1999, Sep 2000, and Dec 2001: Households receiving benefits in past year.
- Apr 2001: Households in months-in-sample 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 receiving benefits in past year.
