Description
FSSTMPDAY records the day of the month in which a household last received SNAP or food stamps benefits.
Beginning with the December 2002 supplement, the day refers to the month of November. Prior to this, the day refers to the month specified in FSSTMPMO, the month the household last received benefits.
This variable is part of the Food Security Supplement.
Comparability
The universe changes substantially over time.
In 1995 and 1996, this question is only asked of those who received benefits in the past 30 days, and who last received benefits in the past month or in the preceding month. In 1997 and 1998 this question is asked of households receiving SNAP or Food Stamp benefits in the past year and who last received benefits in the month of interview or in the two previous calendar months. In 1999, 2000, and 2001, only households receiving benefits in the current and previous calendar month are included in the universe.
Beginning in 2002, this variable is reported by households that received benefits in November and had not yet received their December benefits.
Universe
- 1995-1996, 1999-2000: Households receiving benefits in current or previous month.
- Apr 1997, Aug 1998, and Dec 2001: Households receiving benefits in current or 2 previous months.
- Apr 2001: Households receiving benefits in current or 2 previous months and that are in months-in-sample 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8.
- 2002+: Households that received benefits in November, but not December.
