Description

FRBIRTHM gives the birth month of the woman's most recent child.

In 1994, there are 10 observations for ages 45 to 83. These ages were expected to not be in the universe; however, they were included in the original data.

In 1986-1988, there are several male records that have values for FRBIRTHM. These are not expected to be in universe, but they are in the original data.

In 1982 and 1983, there is one male who has a value for FRBIRTHM, This record had SEX allocated by IPUMS. See QSEX for details.

In 1979:

  • There are many nonsensical numeric and string values in the original data. These have been recoded as NIU and have a value of three for QFRBIRTHM.
  • There are several male records with values for this variable; these are not expected to be in-universe, however they appear in the original data. There is also one male record that has a value for FRBIRTHM. This record had SEX allocated by IPUMS. See QSEX for details.
  • There are several records in 1979 with an age over 59 who have real values for this variable. These are not expected to be in-universe, however, they appear in the original data.
  • There are several instances in which values in the original data for FRBIRTHM were determined to be bogus and were recoded to NIU. These records have a value of three for QFRBIRTHM. These cases include:
  • When birth year of most recent child, FRBIRTHY is reported to be after 1979 and was recoded to NIU.
  • When a birth year of most recent child, FRBIRTHY is missing, but a value was given for FRBIRTHM and the respondent is not in universe for "number of children ever born," FREVER.

In 1976 and 1977 there are male records (two and one, respectively) that have values for FRBIRTHM. These records had SEX allocated by IPUMS. See QSEX for details.
