Description

FRBIRTHY gives the birth year of the woman's most recent child.

In 1994, there are 10 observations for ages 45 to 83. These ages were expected to not be in the universe; however, they were included in the original data.

In 1986-1988, there are several male records that have values for FRBIRTHY. These are not expected to be in universe, but they are in the original data.

In 1982 and 1983, there is one male who has a value for FRBIRTHY, This record had SEX allocated by IPUMS. See QSEX for details.

In 1979:

• There are several male records with values for this variable; these are not expected to be in-universe, however they appear in the original data. There is also one male record that has a value for FRBIRTHM. This record had SEX allocated by IPUMS. See QSEX for details.

• There are several records in 1979 with an age over 59 who have real values for this variable. These are not expected to be in-universe, however, they appear in the original data.

• There are several instances in which values in the original data for FRBIRTHY were determined to be bogus and were recoded to NIU. These records have a value of three for QFRBIRTHY. These instances include:

• When the reported value for FRBIRTHY is after 1979.

• When a birth month of first child, FRBIRTHM is missing, but a value was given for FRBIRTHY and the respondent is not in universe for "number of children ever born," FREVER.
