CSCHGYR gives the year child support payments changed according to the legal or informal agreement. The cases of changed agreements are identified in CSCHG. The frequency of payment and back support requirement before and after this change are found in CSFREQ1/CSFREQ2 and CSBACK1/CSBACK2, respectively. This variable is found on the parent record.

Blank values for this variable represent individuals who were not interviewed in April of the sample year.

This variable is part of the Child Support Supplement.

Comparability

In the 1992 sample there are 3,444 respondents who are NIU for all Child Support Supplement variables despite meeting known supplement universe requirements.

Universe

  • 1992: Persons in months-in-samples 1-3 and 5-7 whose child support amount ever changed.
