Description
CESOCCONTCT indicates how often a respondent heard from friends and family in a typical month over the past 12 months. The respondent was asked to include interactions whether in-person or not, and the respondent could choose Basically Every Day, A Few Times A Week, A Few Times a Month, Once a Month, Less Than Once a Month, or Not At All.
Users should be aware that the universes provided in the November 2011 and 2013 codebooks do not align with the data. In the codebooks, it is stated that CESOCCONTCT was only asked of persons living alone. This is not reflected in the data. In 2011 it is also stated that only outgoing rotation groups received the supplement questions. This also does not seem to be the case in the data. IPUMS-CPS has provided CESOCCONTCT universes as they are in the data.
This variable is part of the Civic Engagement Supplement.
