Description

CEFRNDNUM records the number of close friends the respondent currently has. This number excludes family members. Respondents were prompted to provide "about" how many close friends they have. Additionally, "close friends" were described to the respondent as "people you feel at ease with, can talk to about private matters, or call on for help."

This variable is part of the Civic Engagement Supplement.
