Description
BMOBILESMART reports if any members of a household currently own or have access to a smartphone. Smartphones are defined as mobile phones with internet access, email, and app download abilities.
This variable is part of the Unbanked/Underbanked Supplement.
Comparability
In 2019, nonresponses to Unbanked/Underbanked Supplement questions were allocated based on households with similar demographics. The data quality flag for BMOBILESMART is QBMOBILESMART.
This variable is otherwise comparable across all available years.
Universe
- Jun 2013, Jun 2015, Jun 2017, and Jun 2019: Households that report having or not having bank accounts, that report someone in the household has a cell phone, and have a respondent age 15 or older, who has knowledge of household finances.
