Description

CWTEMPEV indicates whether respondents who did not report doing temporary work, contacting, consulting, free-lance, day labor, or on-call work (CWTEMP, CWCONTRACT, CWCONTRACTIC, CWDAYLAB, CWONCALL) have ever done those types of work for their current employer.

This variable is part of the Contingent Work Supplement.

Comparability

This variable is comparable across years.

Universe

  • 1995-1999: Civilians age 16+ who were employed, but not self-employed, were not in temporary jobs, not paid by a temporary help agency, and in the past week were not on-call, not day laborers, not doing independent contract work, and did not work for a company that contracts out the respondent or their services.
  • 2001-2005: Civilians in month-in-sample 1-3 or 5-7 age 16+ who were employed, but not self-employed, were not in temporary jobs, not paid by a temporary help agency, and in the past week were not on-call, not day laborers, not doing independent contract work, and did not work for a company that contracts out the respondent or their services.
  • 2017: Civilians age 16+ who were employed, but not self-employed, were not in temporary jobs, not paid by a temporary help agency, and in the past week were not on-call, not day laborers, not doing independent contract work, and did not work for a company that contracts out the respondent or their services.
