VJOBTRAINOB indicates whether respondents who have tried to obtain formal job training or schooling since leaving active duty were successful.

This variable is part of the Veterans Supplement

Comparability

In 2003 and earlier samples, Veterans Supplement respondents were 18 and older; in 2005 and later, respondents to the supplement were 17 and older.

For 2001, VJOBTRAINOB includes all veterans who sought formal job training or schooling (VJOBTRAIN).

For 2003, only veterans over 18 but under 65 years old, who sought formal job training or schooling, were considered in universe.

In 2005-2020, all veterans under 65 years old who sought formal job training or schooling are considered in universe.

Beginning in 2021, all veterans whose service ended in 2011 or later are considered in universe. Additionally, the source question for VJOBTRAINOB inquires about formal job training or schooling "looked for most recently."
