Description

LNKFW1YWT is a longitudinal weight for linking the same month across adjacent years of the CPS.

LNKFW1YWT is not available in samples that cannot be linked to the next year using CPSIDP. See Drew et al., 2014 for more information on the CPS panel and linking respondents across months using CPSIDP.

Researchers interested in replicating published BLS labor force estimates should use COMPWT. When analyzing ASEC data, researchers should use the person weight ASECWT. For analyses including the variables EARNWEEK, HOURWAGE, PAIDHOUR, and UNION, researchers should use the EARNWT variable.

Comparability

LNKFW1YWT does not accommodate linked ASEC oversample records at this time and all ASEC oversample records have values of 0 for LNKF1YWT.
