Comparability
In the original CPS data, the implied decimals for 1989 and 1991 are two digits, but there are four implied decimals for all other years. IPUMS corrects for this, so that there are 4 implied decimals in all years of this supplement. The IPUMS command files automatically divides WSSUPPWT by 10,000, so no further adjustment is needed.
From 1976 to 1980 WSSUPPWT is identical to the basic monthly weight. In 2001, children under 15 year old have non-zero weight values despite not being part of the supplement universe.
