Description
BPAWN12M reports whether anyone in the household pawned an item because cash was needed in the last 12 months.
Comparability
In 2011 and 2013, only those who reported having ever pawned an item for cash were asked BPAWN12M. This was not a requirement to be in universe for BPAWN12M in 2015 forward.
In 2019-forward, nonresponses to Unbanked/Underbanked Supplement questions were allocated based on households with similar demographics. The data quality flag for BPAWN12M is QBPAWN12M.
Universe
- Jun 2011 and Jun 2013: Households that indicated anyone had ever pawned an item at a pawn shop, that report having or not having bank accounts, and have a respondent age 15 or older, who has knowledge of household finances.
- Jun 2015, Jun 2017, Jun 2019, Jun 2021, and Jun 2023: Households that report having or not having bank accounts, and have a respondent age 15 or older, who has knowledge of household finances.
