Description
WSSTAMPM indicates whether the time the respondent's primary job usually started last week was the AM or PM time of day. WSSTAMPM is used in conjunction with WSSTTIME to determine if the time recorded in WSSTTIME refers to the AM or PM time of day.
The "primary job" is defined as the job at which the respondent worked the most hours.
This variable is part of the Work Schedules Supplement.
Comparability
In 1976-1978, a small number of cases do not conform to the universe of the variable. These anomalies are not documented by the Census Bureau. IPUMS has opted to keep the original data values as-is in these cases.
In 1985, 6,214 individuals were in-universe for the Work Schedules Supplement but did not answer the supplement questions. These individuals have been coded as "No Response" if they met WSSTAMPM universe criteria.
This variable is otherwise comparable across available samples.
