Description
OFFTOTVAL is the total family income used for replicating official poverty rates. OFFTOTVAL differs from FTOTVAL in that OFFTOTVAL treats primary families and related subfamilies within a given household as one family, in accordance with the official poverty guidelines. Refer to the notes for Replicating Official Poverty for further information. CUTOFF uses Census-defined family units, which do not necessarily correspond to the IPUMS-derived family units as specified in FAMUNIT. See FTYPE and FAMREL for more on Census family units.
