Description
WHYMOVE reports the primary reason for moving, for people who lived in a different residence a year ago. While data were collected for all movers age 1 and older, the responses for minors doubtless reflect the rationales given by adults in the household. The codes relate to family, work, housing, education, climate, and health.
Movers across various geographic boundaries--county, state, and country--are identified in the MIGRATE1 variable. State and foreign country of previous residence are specified in the MIGSTA1 and COUNTRY variables, respectively.
