Description

WORK0380 indicates whether respondents reported their main activity for ASEC, 1980 as "working at a job or business." Other possible responses to the question about the individual's main activity in ASEC, 1980 (approximately one year ago) were "attending college" (see COLLEG80), "on active duty in the Armed Forces" (MILIT80), or "something else."

Comparability

This variable is only available for 1981.

A parallel line of questioning, using ASEC, 1975 as the reference point, was included in the ASEC CPS for 1976-1980 (see WORK0375). WORK0380 is comparable to WORK0375 for 1976 only, with both identifying persons whose main activity one year ago was working at a job or business. For other years, WORK0375 refers to the person's employment two years ago (for 1977), three years ago (for 1978), four years ago (for 1979), or five years ago (for 1980).
