Description
For respondents who report having a retirement account in the previous year, RETCONT indicates how much money the respondent contributed to this account. Respondents are instructed not to include money that was reinvested from other retirement accounts.
Amounts are expressed as they were reported in each year; users must adjust for inflation using Consumer Price Index adjustment factors or use the Adjust Monetary Values tool. Inflation-adjusted versions created with the Adjust Monetary Values tool will use the default reference year for the sample (i.e., survey year [YEAR] for basic monthly and previous year [YEAR-1] for ASEC).
