Description

KATEVAC2 indicates whether the respondent had to evacuate their residence in August 2005, even temporarily, because of Hurricane Katrina. Two additional variables related to Katrina are available: KATEVAC and KATPRIOR.

Since KATEVAC2 is unedited, it is not entirely consistent with the other Katrina variables. For instance, some respondents answered "no" to KATEVAC (no one living in the household had to evacuate due to the hurricane), while they answered "yes" to KATEVAC2. Also, some respondents who answered "yes" to KATEVAC2 (stating he/she had to evacuate) are included in "not in universe" for KATPRIOR.
