Description
FSSPDMOR indicates how much additional money is needed in order for the household to meet weekly basic household needs for food. This question is asked of households that indicated they were spending too little on food (FSSPDML).
FSSPDMOR is only available until 2014. Beginning in 2015, the source data for FSSPDMOR is only offered as a categorical variable. For FSSPDMOR data in 2015+, as well as harmonized backwards in time to the same categorical format, see FSSPDMORC.
This variable is part of the Food Security Supplement.
Comparability
The topcodes for this variable change over time. Before 2011, there was no topcode. From 2011 on, the variable is topcoded at $200.
In 2002, the question was moved from the very end of the supplement questionnaire (after the food security questions) to immediately after the food expenditure questions towards the beginning of the questionnaire. The question wording, however, did not change.
From 2010, group quarters households are not asked this question.
