Description
FSKFDIET indicates whether a member or members of the household were participating in a special diet that prevented them from eating enough of the foods that they wanted to eat. This question is asked of households reporting having enough to eat, but not always enough of the kinds of food they wanted to eat (see FSFOODS).
FSKFDIET is one of five questions these households are asked about the reasons that they did not always have enough of the kinds of foods they wanted to eat. Households were also asked whether this occurred for the following reasons: not enough money for these foods (FSKFMONY); difficulty getting to the store (FSKFSTOR); kinds of food wanted not available (FSKFDAVL); and no time for shopping and cooking (FSKFTIME).
This variable is part of the Food Security Supplement.
Universe
- 1997, 1999-2001: All supplement households in months-in-sample 1-8 that indicated they sometimes did not have the kind of foods they wanted.
- Apr 2001: All supplement households that indicated they sometimes did not have the kind of foods they wanted and are in months-in-sample 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8.
