Description
EDSUPPWT is the weight specific to the Education Supplement, and should be used for all analyses using variables from this supplement.
A unique supplement weight for the education supplement does not exist from 1976-1980 or from 1994-2005. In these years, EDSUPPWT is the same as WTFINL for education supplements. The October 2012 sample includes two supplements: Education and Computer and Internet Use. Use EDSUPPWT to tally the Education supplement.
Comparability
Sample weights for the October monthly supplements are identical to the basic survey sample weights from 1976-1980 and from 1994-2005. In 1989-1993, only adults have a separate supplement weight. In these samples, those 15 and older have this supplement weight value, while children have the basic survey weight value.
This variable is comparable over all available years.
