Description

EDRPT3 indicates whether or not the focal person has ever repeated the third grade. The set of grade specific follow-up questions is only asked for those who repeated a grade (see EDREPEAT.)

Comparability

The variable is comparable across available years. Users should be aware of the changes to the universe over the years as well as variation within years, across age groups.

Universe

  • Oct 1992: Children age 3-14 who are currently enrolled in grades K-12 who report repeating a grade, and adults age 15-24 who report repeating a grade
  • Oct 1995: Children age 3-14 who report repeating a grade, and people age 15-24 currently enrolled in grades 1-12 who report repeating a grade
  • Oct 1999: Children age 6-14 who report repeating a grade, and people age 15-24 currently enrolled in grades 1-12 who report repeating a grade
  • Oct 2004: Children age 6-14 who were not enrolled in school the previous October and report repeating a grade, and people age 15-24 currently enrolled in school who report repeating a grade
