Description

EDGRADE identifies the current grade or level of schooling for people currently enrolled in regular school (see EDATT). EDGRDLY reports the grade attended the previous year among people enrolled in that year.

Comparability

From 1994 forward, EDGRADE distinguishes between years of college (1-4 years) and graduate school (1-2 years). Prior to 1994, there are six years of college codes (1-6 years). We consider 5 and 6 years of college prior to 1994 the same as 1 and 2 years of graduate school in 1994 and later, respectively.

For 1977, the data we offer is only available for adults and excludes children from responses.
