Codes

This variable is not available for any of the currently selected samples.

Description

CWDEFNARR indicates whether the individual was a contingent worker based on a narrow definition. Under this definition, contingent workers are wage and salary workers who expect to work in their current job for 1 year or less. This definition excludes self-employed workers and independent contractors. Individuals who work for temporary help agencies or contracting companies are considered contingent if they expect their employment arrangement to last for 1 year or less and they have worked for that company for 1 year or less.

This variable is one of three that defines contingent workers. Contingent workers hold jobs that are expected to last only a limited period of time. The three contingent work definitions available in this supplement include CWDEFNARR, CWDEFMED, and CWDEFBRD.

This variable is part of the Contingent Work Supplement.
