- UnHarmonized Variables
ASECFWT is a 12-digit numeric variable with two implied digits. That is, 123456789012 should be interpreted as 1234567890.12. The IPUMS command files automatically make the necessary adjustment, so no further adjustment is needed.
ASECFWT indicates the householder or reference person weight and is to be used for family-level analyses of ASEC data.
When analyzing ASEC data, researchers should use the person weight WTSUPP. For analyses including the variables EARNWEEK, HOURWAGE, PAIDHOUR, and UNION, researchers should use the EARNWT variable.
It is possible for this variable to have a negative value.
