Description

For respondents who attempted to quit a tobacco product (TTOBTYPLONGQUIT) in the past 12 months, TTOBLONGQUIT reports the length of time in days of the respondent's longest attempt to quit the non-cigarette tobacco product identified in TTOBTYPLONGQUIT, during the past 12 months. This variable is created from two components: the first is a number variable and the second is a unit variable. Respondents reported how long in days, months or years, their longest attempt to quit the non-cigarette tobacco product identified

This variable is part of the Tobacco Use Supplement.

Comparability

In the 2010 and 2011 samples, the corresponding longest-quit-attempt variable was asked when the respondent did not report that their most recent quit attempt was their longest quit attempt. Beginning in 2014, this variable was asked of any past-12-month quit attempt.
