Description

COVIDMED reports whether the respondent did not get medical care for a non-COVID-19 condition during the past four weeks as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This variable is part of a battery of five supplemental questions added to the CPS basic monthly survey in May of 2020 to measure the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the labor force. This question was dropped from the survey after October 2020. For more information on how the pandemic affected the CPS, see our detailed documentation about the pandemic period.

This question was dropped starting in November 2020. Users should note that estimates of foregone care from this CPS variable do not align with those from the Household Pulse Survey.
