For hourly workers, subject to top coding, the higher of either the amount of ernush times ernhr or the actual item zernwk will be present. For 1981 we assume the universe is the same as for 1982 and 1983, but as ernpdh is all zeros in 1981, this cannot be proven. WARNING: The Census bureau says 1981 through 1983 earner study variables are unreliable, but were never corrected with an update tape. Use at your own risk! See discussion of earnings variables in Appendix R. See ernwk as an alternative.
