Description

DWLASTWRK reports how many years ago the respondent last worked for the employer for the reference lost or left job.

This variable is part of the Displaced Workers Supplement.

Comparability

From 1984-1992, respondents who lost or left a job during the past five years are included in the supplement; from 1994 on, those who lost or left a job during the past three years are included.

Universe

  • 1984-1992: Civilians age 20 or older who lost or left a job in the past five years because the company closed down, eliminated the shift or position, or had insufficient work.
  • 1994+: Civilians age 20 or older who lost or left a job in the past three years because the company closed down, eliminated the shift or position, or had insufficient work.
